Annual General Meeting

Stoney Keppel Riders are holding their AGM this Wednesday April 17th at 7pm at the shack. If you’ve been wanting to join us this would be a great opportunity. Wings and refreshments to celebrate a great year and our awesome volunteers!

Shack Party 2019

We had a great turn out to our Shack Party again this year!

We were pleased to present one of the founding members of the club with an award of appreciation. It was really interesting to hear Barry Howey talk about the first days of the club. (see photos at bottom from his shack)

We’d like to thank all of the sponsors especially Subway in Wiarton for supplying us with an abundance of food! Also Cory Gunn at Tim Hortons in Owen Sound (near OSDSS on the west side) for the coffee and hot chocolate and all the fixings.

And for all the awesome raffle prizes a big Thank You to…

The Spa Guy
National Powersports and Financing
Hal Wright Chevrolet Cadillac GMC Buick
Hallman Motors LTD
Vanvugt Greenhouses
Owen Sound Ledgerock Factory Outlet
Wiarton Home Hardware Building Centre
The Gaslight Diner
Colborne Skidoo
Mike McKinnon
Dianne Russell
Penn Automotive
and whoever brought the amazing preserves…it was chaos and I missed that!

AND finally to all the volunteers for their time and effort. I’d specifically like to thank the new members in the club for really stepping up!

The 50/50 winner. Mike Goetz was our big winner taking home $155.

The photos below are of the Stoney Keppel Riders Shack that was on Barry Howey’s property…I’m not sure if he is in them but I do see some familiar, younger, faces. The second photo said it was from Shack Party 2009…10 years ago!!

One more try…shack party date change

Ok, this is it. One more try and we are driving in.

Due to mild temps and rain in the immediate forecast many clubs surrounding us are closing. We don’t want to encourage riders to use closed trails to get to us so we are making the call to put off the party. The long term forecast looks decent so we are also going to close our trails with the hope that we can continue on after this weekend.

So Shack Party is postponed, again, but for the last time. So next Saturday March 2nd is the date and if we have to we will drive in instead of ride in.

If you need me I’ll be touring around with my sharpie marker to change all the signs I put up.

Shack Party & Trails

Due to the recent rain our trails are closed and we’ve moved the date of the Shack Party to February 23rd. (UPDATE-we are moving it one final time to March 2nd.) Please spread the word on the date change and as always refer to the interactive map for current trail status: https://trails.evouala.com/ofsc/#

Trail Closure due to Forestry Operations

Grey County Forest 31 (Copper Kettle) will be closed for approximately 3 weeks for forestry work starting today. When the rest of our area opens up this area will remain closed until we get the go ahead from the County. As always refer to the OFSC official map for trail status:https://trails.evouala.com/ofsc/#

It is the trail between Concession 10 and 14 near Copper Kettle, see maps below:

Meeting this week!

Our next meeting is Thursday January 17th at 7pm at the Clubhouse. If you haven’t been there before and would like to join us let me know and one of us will meet you at the road and guide you back.

If you look after a section of trail we need a few things:
All landowner agreements
Update of trail staking and signage
Inventory of any signs you have or need
If you can’t make the meeting please send this to Mark or Christy asap.

We also need to discuss Shack Party 2019, firewood and shack maintenance.

Hope to see you there!!
